Just Being A Missionary

Here is the weekly update of this little missionary (:
Teaching Kiki! She is AMAZING and we love her! She's so prepared and she let us dump the rest of her coffee into the rose plants! So fun! Kiki also helped us in another lesson, she got a priesthood blessing, helped us make a deal to which we're helping to sand cabinets and teach Garen, and she continues to learn and gain a testimony of the gospel! (:
This past week was the world wide missionary broadcast and it was SO GOOD! Really it was amazing! We learned there's changes in the missionary daily schedule and key indicators! Our schedules will still have the daily missionary things but are a little more flexible and there aren't as many key indicators. I'm excited! It's to help us use our time to best help our areas and focus on teaching people - teach repentance and baptize converts. I also saw sister Mickelson! And funny joke: how many Elders does it take to change a tire? Hahah only about two plus sister Erickson helped but there was a good bunch standing close by ready to help (;
Then guess what happened Sunday! It was one of those: 10 minutes before sacrament meeting a member of the bishopric comes over and says he has something for us.. asks if we would give a talk in church. That day. The original speaker couldn't make it. And gives us an index card with our topic. Hah. 5 minutes to prepare a talk! Ah! But you know what? The spirit was definitely with me and it was one of the best talks I've ever given (: seriously, I'm so grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who sends the Holy Ghost to help us!
Have a fantastic week! Remember the basics! And you're never too old to learn! (:

How you can tell there is some kind of missionary thing going on - a line of cars all pulled through (; it's kinda funny

It's Raining Blessings!

This week was amazing! It was so busy!
Tuesday we started volunteering at this new place that makes packs of food for kids who go home to no food during the weekend. We're so excited to be helping out there every week, plus there is a lady that also volunteers and is deaf! I may be able to practice communicating sign with her! (:
We also had exchanges this past week where I stayed in Sweet Home with Sister Powell and we had COOL experiences: we had a teaching appointment set for Wednesday but two days before this man called us and cancelled because he got injured. We got some cupcakes to take over to his house on Wednesday and to say we hope he gets feeling better and about ten minutes later we got a call from him asking if we would actually like to go back and teach him right then and that he was feeling well enough for a discussion - it was an AMAZING lesson! One of the best! Sweets and sugar really do soften hearts (;
Being a missionary is seriously the best! But not all the times is it sweet. Thursday morning I prayed and got an answer pretty much immediately after I got up (it was a tough one) and was back on my knees again. Part of being a missionary and even a follower of Christ is being willing to give up what you most want now for the plan God has for us. One thing I'm learning is to meekly, sincerely, and faithfully submit myself to God. Is it easy? No! But am I the only one? No, what has helped me is the example of Joseph Smith and of others I've read about who were willing to submit to follow God's plan. That afternoon I had an interview with President Tateoka - and it helped me. He touched my heart and helped give me peace to willingly submit. I shared with him this quote:
"Every challenge you face, every hard thing you confront, every bad thing that happens to you, every unfairness, every conflict, every sadness, tragedy, every disappointment and heartache, every temptation and every opposition happens for one purpose only: to give you opportunity to respond by applying in your life the teachings of Jesus. As you do so you are changed to become more like Him."
Everything is to bless us and help us become more like Him. I want to and choose to faithfully submit myself to become more like my Savior. And since then we have been seeing major BLESSINGS! Seriously. Blessings being poured on us! And I know they come from God (:
I know Christ lives! And with his help we are given the strength to continue forward in everything that we go through. I hope this is a good reminder to have faith in Him (:

Have an amazing week!

Standing in Holy Places

We had a good week filled with tender mercies and making our ward mission leader proud! (He's the sweetest 90yr old man - we love him!) we've shifted our focus to visiting more less actives and are having much better success. A lot of people still have testimonies! It's so good to hear but... they are missing some of the most amazing blessings that come from actively living as a member! I really hope we will be able to help and make some kind of difference. I know I'm so grateful to have grown up going to church on Sunday with my family (: I see the blessings that come from it!
Also! Revelation is REAL! It's so cool! On Friday I gave a training in ZTM - I prayed all throughout the week about what should be my topic and over and over again I received the answer to do it on temples. I felt and knew that this was what I needed to do a training on - a definite answer! It was awesome! It was different though because of the type of training I was giving I was basically restating the mission president's guidelines on temple attendance, how we can "stand in Holy Places" (D&C 87:8), and the blessings. And... President & Sister Tateoka decided to come to this ZTM! It all went good and they liked it (:
Other great news: Kiki wants to be baptized!! She's the sweetest lady who's living with a member. We love Kiki! We watched the Joseph Smith movie with her Saturday, she's been reading the Book of Mormon, and she came to church yesterday and enjoyed it! We got the text from our member last night about how Kiki is asking more questions and wants to be baptized and be married in the temple! I'm SO excited to officially start teaching her!
I hope you all have an amazing week! Keep praying! Keep your faith! And keep your hope! Heavenly Father is always there and he believes in you!

SN❄️️W! And Stayin' in Sweet Home!

Transfer calls and we are both staying in Sweet Home!
Well not too much has happened this past week but it's been freezing and it snowed! HUGE flakes of snow coming down and pelting us - they were big! It was cold but fun to be able to walk around in it (; then it rained and has been raining ever since which means super icy and no driving for us!
Cool experience that is a little similar to President Uchtdorf's talk "fourth floor, last door" talk: we were out walking in the snow trying to contact potentials and planning to see a family we teach after we have tried everyone - well I had the horrible thought (cause our feet were freezing) to skip the last house (which was a little more distance away) and just get inside to this family's house. Hah! Well guess what! We get to the last house and they weren't the people we were looking for but when we gave her the Book of Mormon she was open to accepting it and reading it! She even said "God may have a message for me in this book" YES! And of course it was the last house we tried (;
Other exciting news was because of the weather church was cancelled. (I think this may have been the first time in my whole life!) We had our own little church meeting with the Tolman family - it was really good! (:
Thank you for the love and support! Have an amazing week! Stay warm and dry!

HAPPY 2017🎉

I'm so grateful for this past year! I'm so grateful to be a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I love this gospel (:
It's crazy! We have our hard times. The world we live in is NOT easy! We've had to face people who had anti-Mormon information and SO many awkward situations - really that day was just all weird! BUT I've been so HAPPY! Everything is hard - so much stress and responsibility BUT there is fun in the work and excitement in the little things! I feel I have purpose and I'm doing something right! I know I belong (:
We've met SO many people this past week! Some super nice and others not so.. It's weird - I've also been very interested in reading into history of the church and early saints and I'm LOVING it! I'm learning so much from the prophet Joseph Smith, the translation, establishing the church - I'm having an obsession on all history of the church - I NEVER thought I would be interested in knowing! I just want to read everything! And! The Book of Mormon is the BEST!
Prayers answered: Ive just realized why I've been really into reading about church history - it's an answer to prayer - again we met some people who were very bold in telling us some incorrect stuff about the church - it hurts! But because of everything I've been studying It's helped strengthen my testimony from what could have been a little shaky after talking to those people to a firm testimony. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet. I'm grateful for the Holy Ghost's witness to me of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
New Year's Eve ~ we had to be in early and we watched church movies (: the last moments of 2016 were good! Hello to a NEW YEAR! Hello to 2017!
I would LOVE to hear from you! (who even reads these?;) and to hear your stories (:
Love you! And have an amazing week!
